Michael Lutz
Executive Director
Mike was hired as the Executive Director in January of 2016 and is a homegrown Copper Country resident growing up  north of Calumet, Mi. He is a graduate of Calumet High School and Michigan Tech University. Mike has been working in the healthcare industry for over 30 years. Those careers include Mercy Ambulance, Apria Healthcare and Baraga County Memorial Hospital.  He draws on his strength in customer service and finance. He lives in Houghton with his wife, Sue. Golf and snowmobiling are at the top of his outside interests. Mike says “As executive director of Omega House, I am committed to leading the way in keeping our strategic vision moving forward as we become a leader and resource in the community for end-of-life issues.”

Mary Kangas

House Manager

Mary Kangas recently joined the Omega House staff as the full-time house coordinator responsible for managing the daily operations of the house. She brings with her over two decades in accounting, customer service and administrative skills.  Her experiences in the corporate world as a former business owner of the Brownstone Hall and staff accountant at Northern Hardwoods lend to a rounded view of business operations. She resides with her husband, Jon, of 25 years and 3 children in Atlantic Mine. Another daughter and son-in-law reside in Lakewood, WA.  Mary enjoys volunteering in the community, gardening and reading. Her friendly nature and business experience are the perfect combination for this position.

 

Pam Aho, RN 

Pam Aho is a registered nurse and is our Patient Care Coordinator. Aside from providing direct resident care, her role is to lead and further improve the quality of care that our team of certified nursing assistants deliver by training and sharing her knowledge as a hospice nurse. She resides outside of Dollar Bay with her husband David of 37 years; they have 6 children and 16 grandchildren.  In her free time, Pam enjoys watching the grandkids, watching sporting events, reading and yoga. Pam feels very blessed that she found her passion in hospice and wants to give, loving, compassionate care to residents of Omega House.

 

Shelby Hamar, Volunteer Coordinator

Shelby joined the Omega House staff in December 2020 and handles our volunteer program which involves, recruitment, engagement and retention of our caring volunteer force.  As an Omega House volunteer for years, Shelby draws on her experience to enhance our volunteer program.  She lives in Hancock with her Husband Doug and 2 children.
