Frequently Asked Questions

Availability changes frequently. We can often admit a resident on fairly short notice, but it’s best to discuss matters in advance of a possible need.

We love giving tours of our home. Please call ahead to schedule a visit or stop by Monday – Friday 8am-4pm. We are located at 2211 Maureen Lane in Houghton, MI.

We consider each resident with a dementia diagnosis on a case-by-case basis.

We are not the primary care provider for Houghton County. Canal View in Hancock, MI must be first contacted to see if they have a bed available. If they do not we are the next preferred provider. A referral must then be sent by hospice agencies, doctors or hospital to the Iron Mountain VA for approval.

We do not accept any third-party insurance payments including Medicare or Medicaid. Daily rates are based on household resources. Residents with limited household resources may be eligible for 30 days of free care from the Gerald Vairo Memorial Fund.

Advance Care Planning

Advance care planning helps you get the care you want, and do not want. And it relieves the burden on your family. Nationally-recognized Five Wishes has been called a “living will with heart and soul.”

Advance Planning

Plan Your Final Health Care

You have the right to choose and plan how you receive medical care in your final hours. Part of your decision depends on your chosen advocate. Advance Care Planning (ACP) helps you choose someone to be your advocate and speak on your behalf – someone who tells healthcare workers what you want done for you.

  • ACP is a process that helps you think and talk about your end-of-life healthcare choices with others.
  • This planning will help you and your family, loved ones a and your caregivers when you cannot speak for yourself.
  • Making a plan for yourself means others will not have to guess what they should do for you.

Life Enrichment

When a family considers transitioning their loved one to Omega House, one of the biggest concerns is that their life will change immensely. While they will have access to the care they may not receive at home, that doesn’t mean your loved one will stop doing the things they love. Omega House takes strides to integrate the local community and culture into their residents stay, promoting activities that they have enjoyed their entire lives.
